Abies concolor - White Fir
Abies concolor (White Fir) is a coniferous tree native to North America. Although in its native range it can grow to more than 50m high, the mature height is extremely variable depending on both soil type and rainfall. The tree grows with a perfectly straight, smooth grey trunk when young. As the bark ages, deep longitudinal furrows develop. Blue-grey needles are paired with attractive upright cones which appear during autumn and give the tree year-round interest. Abies concolor is tolerant of most soils, including both wet and dry conditions.
